  The Curriculum
  • Because 80% to 90% of brain development occurs before the age of three years, the curriculum used in the workshop - The Early Years - focuses on newborns to three year olds. Positive Parenting workshops provide parents with a clear understanding of their child's unfolding development, how to nurture and support their child's brain development and growth, how to handle challenging behaviors and cultivate positive self-esteem.
  • Through small group discussions and activities parents are given an opportunity to share ideas, support each other and gain knowledge and confidence. Parents become their own problem solvers. Group dynamics allow participants to gain insight and awareness into the complex and exciting task of raising a child.

The Positive Parenting Collaborative is a Kendall County project sponsored by St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, St. Mark Presbyterian Early Learning Center, Benedictine Ministries Corporation and the Hill Country Pregnancy Care Center. The project is funded by a grant from the Kronkosky Charitable Foundation supporting outreach efforts of the Precious Minds New Connections Initiative - and providing education for parents, guardians and caregivers of children from birth to three years of age.

Educator: Mrs. Geri Clouse; serves as the Director and facilitator of the Precious Minds, New Connections Initiative - for Kendall County area.
